Counseling Intern

Hello, my name is Angel (he/they)! I received my Bachelors in Psychological Science from the University of Irvine in California. I moved to Colorado to pursue my master's degree in counseling at the University of Colorado Denver. I am still obtaining my hours and am eager to be invited into people’s mental health journey. Prior to being in the counseling field, I was a babysitter for four years and took care of a wide array of kiddos from different walks of life.

In my spare time you’ll find me running a D&D campaign with my friends. The world of TTRPG is very important to me as I believe it can help people, from all ages and backgrounds, to explore parts of themselves that they didn’t know were waiting to be explored. The art of storytelling in itself can help connect us to each other, and when we are connected we can have understanding.

The theoretical framework I utilize the most is Gestalt Therapy and have incorporated other humanistic approaches as well. During my bachelors, I have been interested in Animal Assisted Therapy and wanting to learn more. Through my own experience, I’ve found that animals are powerful support structures in our lives, and I believe everyone can benefit from interacting with animals in a therapeutic sense. Just like us humans, animals are unique, and not everyone will have a similar experience with a set animal, but that’s the beauty of it. Animals bring something new to the therapeutic table.

I hope to be the therapist I wanted to see growing up and give back to my community!
